All of Lazio in its villages: the traditional feasts and festivals of Lazio go abroad with 15 tourist packages

A stay in Rome will be an experience made unique by the allure of the Capital and its surrounding regions, with their peculiar traditions and particular characteristics. A land to be discovered in an entirely new way by following the trail of the flavours and aromas of its local customs, traditions and historical celebrations.
Against the backdrop of natural parks and castles, abbeys and medieval towns, historical centres and fortresses overlooking breathtaking landscapes, food and wine will be the guiding thread of an itinerary leading to the discovery of the wholesome traditional foods and excellent wines of the typical cuisine and characteristic traditions of small towns in Lazio.
All this will be unfolded in the “TUTTO IL LAZIO E’ PAESE” campaign: an initiative supported by the Lazio Region Council Committee for Tourism and the Regional Agency for the Promotion of Tourism in Rome and Lazio with the aim of promoting the hundreds of free events which each month enliven the entire region with a rich calendar of appointments.
The broad and wide-ranging offer includes 800 events which will be held during 2010 in the Region’s 378 municipalities. Religious feasts, historical re-enactments, wine and food festivals featuring typical specialities, local artisan fairs: the traditions of Lazio will be celebrated in all their variety during the numerous events taking place each weekend.
From the olive oil of the Sabina area to the 25 fine DOC wines, the carnival parades in Acquapendente, Civitacastellana and Ronciglione, the historical re-enactment of the battle of Lepanto in Sermoneta, the “Palio del Velluto” celebrations in Leonessa, the paths of memory traced in San Giovanni Incarico, the Renaissance pageant in Bomarzo in the province of Viterbo: the “TUTTO IL LAZIO E’ PAESE” initiative offers tourists and visitors an opportunity to experience the excellent food and wine of the region, along with its rich natural, archaeological, historical and artistic heritage.
To learn about the opportunities visit the www.laziofeste.it website, which provides news and useful information on the events and celebrations that brighten the towns and centres of the Lazio Region.

Now in its third edition, the “TUTTO IL LAZIO E’ PAESE” campaign has become a must for tourists and visitors wishing to experience local traditions and customs through the events organized by the towns of Lazio. The Pugnaloni di Acquapendente celebrations and the chestnut festival in Soriano nel Cimino, the historical re-enactment of the Living Nativity Scene in Greccio and the Ronciglione Carnival, the “Infiorata” in Genzano and the bearing of the “Macchina” of Saint Rose, the truffle festival in Campoli Appennino and the Renaissance flag-throwing pageant in Cori, the grape harvest in Marino and the strawberry festival in Nemi: starting in 2010 the “TUTTO IL LAZIO E’ PAESE” campaign will include a tourist offer organized ad hoc by selected tour operators which will unite a visit of Rome with destinations in the Lazio region featuring traditional cultural celebrations, religious feasts and food and wine festivals.
